building confidence in your equine partnership
At Steele Yard we strive to create a safe, fun learning environment where students flourish. We offer a small, boutique training program that every detail is customized for each rider and horse. We create the opportunity for each rider to gain confidence in their horse and skills, while still being challenged in a meaningful way. You will always leave the barn with the peace of mind your equine partner will get the best care the Central Valley has to offer.
Steele Yard was created as a private equine investment partnership between Benjamin Steele and Alexandra Ireland in 2017 bringing top hunter jumper horses from Europe to California. During the early stages Alexandra spent a majority of her time in Europe searching for perfect horses for the US market and continuing her education.
After working with several top barns in Europe and the West coast Alexandra came back to California to permanently take over the US side of the business. After several years focusing on their own investment horses it was quickly made apparent that the Central Valley had limited training options for outside clients to choose from. They decided to open their private facility to a small group of clients who seek a positive and caring environment. They strive to build a program that gives peace of mind to their clients, who can always count on excellent care and attention to their equine partner.
We spend the extra time with each client and their horse to help them achieve their goals, whether they are just getting comfortable cantering to making the leap to the 3'6", every client is given personal attention. We focus on confidence and understanding the philosophy behind every exercise so not only do students excel but they truly understand the concepts of what they have learned and can continue to recreate their success for years to come!
Alexandra not only has an amazing eye for finding a horse, but I also have enjoyed watching her teach and bring along clients and their horses. Her positive teaching style and exceptional horse care makes her an easy person to recommend to train you or your horse.

Alexandra came to us at our base in Europe to further her eduction and learn more about the European style of training. We were amazing by her open- mindedness and willingness to step outside her comfort zone to learn new ways of approaching riding and training. She has become skilled at integrating the technique of the American and European schooling to make her a well rounded trainer.

I am lucky to call Alexandra my trainer. She is dedicated to making sure I succeed with all of my riding goals. She always keeps an open mind while teaching, and always finds a way to boost my confidence. We regularly share a laugh during my lessons, which isn't something you find with every trainer. I have been riding with her for a few years and I have come a long ways.
I was lucky to have been able to find someone as passionate and talented as Alexandra to be my trainer. She has not only made me a better rider, but also a more confident and hard- working person. She has a way of putting herself in your shoes to better explain strategies in a way that you will understand and has an excellent feel for any horse she sits on. Not only is she a phenomenal trainer, but also a loyal and great friend to have. She never fails make me smile on my bad days and always pushes me to be the best version of myself. I would definitely not have come as far as I have today without her help and guidance.
